Preparation time : 30 mins

Serves : 6-7

Ingredients :
  • Oil : 3 tbsp
  • Chicken : 2 kg
  • Onion : 2 medium sized
  • Tomato : 1
  • Ginger : 1 inch
  • Garlic : 12 flakes
  • Coriander leaves : 1/2 cup
  • Mint leaves : 1/2 cup
  • Green chilies : 4
  • Bay leaves : 4
  • Green Cardamon pods : 2
  • Clove : 6
  • Pepper corn : 12
  • Coriander powder : 1 tbsp
  • Cumin powder : 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala : 3 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder : 1 tsp
  • Chilly powder : 1/2 tbsp
  • Yogurt : 4 tbsp
  • Salt : according to taste
  • Water : if needed
Preparation:
  • Cut 2 kg chicken in to small pieces and marinate it with salt, chilly powder and 1 tsp turmeric powder for about an hour.
  • Chop 1 onion, green chilies , ginger , garlic, coriander leaves and mint leaves and make paste of it using mixer. Keep it aside - green paste
  • Thin slice other onion , and chop tomatoes in to small pieces.

Method:
  • Heat 3 tbsp oil in a sauce pot. When it is heated, add the spices ( pepper corn, clove, bay leaf , cardamom).
  • Saute for few seconds and then add sliced onions.
  • When the onion is cooked and slightly brown , add the green paste which we prepared.
  • Cook for about 5 mins.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and cook for sometime.
  • Then add 1 tbsp of coriander powder, 1 tbsp cumin powder and 3 tbsp of garam masala. Mix it.
  • After about 1 min, add 4 tbsp of yogurt. Mix well.
  • Add chicken pieces and salt.
  • Close lid and cook until the chicken is cooked. 
Serve hot with Rice, Rotis etc
