The recipe for today is Chicken Malai Tikka, its a variant of Chicken Tikka recipe I posted few months back. I've been planning to prepare this recipe since 2 weeks but because of my busy schedule I dint have time to cook during weekdays , finally after an exhausting week of work its time to cook . I invited my friend Navya over to my house and we had fun cooking together. Here I'll be posting 2 different methods of preparing this recipe, however the ideal one is the oven method, but I prepared using a pan as my oven had some problems.

Preparation time : 1 hour + 15 mins
Serves : 3

Ingredients :

  • Chicken : 250 g ( cut in to small cubes )
  • Butter : 3 tbsp

Marinade :

  • Curd( Yogurt) : 4 tbsp
  • Ginger Garlic paste : 2 tbsp
  • Fresh cream : 1/4 cup
  • Pepper powder : 1 tsp
  • Salt : 1/2 tsp (to taste )
  • Cashew Paste : Soak 12-15 cashews in 1/4 cup milk for about half n hour and then grind it.

Preparation and Method :
  • Cut boneless chicken in to small cubes.
  • Make small cuts in it using fork or knife.
  • Take all the above ingredients under marinade, mix it in a bowl.
  • Now add chicken pieces to it and marinate for about an hour in refrigerator.
Pan method:
  • In a Pan heat 2 tbsp of butter, when it little hot place the chicken pieces over it. 
  • Grease little butter over chicken pieces too. After about 5 mins, turn the chicken pieces over.
  • Cook for few more mins. Keep it on pan , until the chicken turns brown all over.
  • Once its done, serve it hot with green mint chutney.


Oven Method:(recommended method)
  • After marinating as told above,
  • Grease the oven safe dish with 2 tbsp of butter. 
  • And place the chicken piece in it and grill for about 15 mins, at 180 degree centigrade(350 F).
  • When the chicken is grilled on one side turn it over and grease butter over it.
  • You can also use skewer and piece chicken pieces and then grill it as I  mentioned.
  • After its baked serve it with Green mint chutney.

  1. Where do you get ginger garlic paste? Or how do you make it?

    1. It's available in Walmart or any grocery stores.

    2. To prepare ginger garlic paste, grind equal amounts of ginger and garlic in a blender , if needed add tsps of water to make a paste

  4. This is absolutely an amazing chicken dish. My kids enjoyed it to the fullest. I am going to try my hands on fish finger recipe tonight. Hope my kids would love it too.
