Preparation time: 20 mins
Marination: at least 30 mins
Cooking time: 30 mins
Serves: 4-5
  • Chicken :500 g
  • Onion : 3 small
  • Kebab mix
  • Ghee : 2tbsp
  • Cashew nut :small cup
  • Dry grapes : if you like 
  • Curry leaves : handful
  • Red chillies : 4-5
  • Tomato sauce : 2 tbsp
  • Soya sauce : 1 tsp
  • Salt
For chilly paste:
  • Coriander seeds : 1 tbsp
  • Tamarind : 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilly : 10-12 ( if chilly is very spicy then 5 )
  • Cumin seeds : 1tsp
  • Salt : 1 tsp
  • Take 10-12 red chilies, soak it in hot water and remove it
  • Red chilies along with coriander seeds, cumin seeds, tamarind and salt put in a mixer and make paste  and keep it
  • Take chicken and mix it with the kebab mix and marinate for 1/2 hour and then deep fry it and keep aside 
  • Take pan and add oil, fry onions till brown and then keep aside


  • Take a kadai, add 2 tbsp ghee and heat it.
  • Add cashew nuts fry it then add curry leaves and dry grapes.
  • After that add whole red chillies (4-5) and saute it till its fried.
  • Add the chilly paste we prepared, Mix it. Fry it till the raw smell disappears.
  • Then add tomato sauce and soya sauce 
  • Cook for few mins (1-2 mins)
  • Then add fried chicken and add fried onions 
  • Add salt to taste, mix it well.
  • Uruval chicken is ready to serve.

  5. Hi Sindhoora....can I know how many teaspoons of kebab mix do you add?...thanks in advance

    1. Hi . I add about 4-5 tbsp . Just see that all the chicken pieces get coated with the mix. Add water as required.

    2. What is Kabab Mix ? Is it the Kabab Powder that we get in stores?
